Intelligent Emotions

How do emotions affect the way we think? Are emotions universal across cultures? How does sharing one's emotional experiences affect physical health? "The Intelligent Emotions," a distance-education course offered by AllLearn (The Alliance For Lifelong Learning), was based on the groundbreaking research of Yale psychology professor Peter Salovey. The course explored the nature of human emotions, the diversity of emotions across cultures and the problems associated with understanding them.
The core lectures of the course were produced by the Association of Yale Alumni as part of their "Yale Great Teachers Series," and were distributed to students on VHS tape. In addition, the CMI2 produced a five-minute video introduction that conveys the course's key themes. Placing Professor Salovey's research in a practical context, the video features Professor Salovey helping his PhD student David resolve an emotional dilemma.
